Walking
The best way to experience Palma is definitely on foot. Walking allows you
to immerse yourself in the Spanish culture and fully appreciate the history and
amenities of the old town. The old town offers a labyrinth of narrow, windy lanes
where you will find masses of tapas bars, museums and cafes. And a stroll up
the famous, cosmopolitan Jaime III is not to be missed for those who enjoy designer
clothes and classy restaurants.

At night you can wonder around the narrow lanes and find a diverse range
of night clubs, restaurants and bars. The Barcelona Jazz bar, Blues
Ville and Atlanticos are highly recommended and are within a stone's
throw of one another. |

Bus
There are many beaches in and around Palma and the best way to get
to these is by bus. Bus stops are easy to find and 1.10 € is the
standard fare. Calla Mayor (literally the Big Bay) is one of the most
popular spots for residents in Palma, offering a long stretch of sandy
beach, lined with bars and cafes. |

Alternatively,
Illetas Beach offers a relaxing alternative where you can indulge in
massages and chilled out cafes. Porto Patals is the up-market beach
where you can expect to see some impressive boats and lots of English
yachtsman sipping coffees along the promenade. Further down from the
harbour, there is a fine beach, popular with the locals and lesser
known by common tourists.

For
2.20 € you can catch a bus to Palma Nova - this beautiful beach is
a holiday spot for many tourists but is still unspoilt. This is a great
spot for water sports and activities, and also has a promenade
full of bars and restaurants.
Further down from Palma Nova is Magaluf. This will not be for every group and
especially not for those choosing to leave British traditions behind for the
weekend. However, if foam parties, cheap alcohol and watching ‘Only
Fools and Horses’ in the Prince William pub takes your fancy, Magaluf might
be what your looking for ! Especially the cheap alcohol ! |

Taxi
Generally taxis are inexpensive, so if you need to travel somewhere that
maybe looks too far to walk to, just hop in a cab. A
green light or ‘libre’ sign will be displayed if the cab is free.
Throughout the night, cabs will be running up and down the Paseo
Maritimo. This is an easy spot to get to from any point in Palma de
Mallorca. Most of the nightlife is found along this stretch,
offering salsa clubs, cocktail bars and strip joints. Pacha and Titos
are the main clubs which are a definite "must" during
your stay here. |
